Royalty of Musical Instruments
Kevin Sullivan, a musician with over two decades of experience, is facing a dilemma that would strike the heart of any musician – losing or stealing nearly $10,000 worth of gear. The incident occurred on a Saturday night when Sullivan was driving his 2024 silver Blazer on 4th Street near Campbell Road in Royal Oak. As he pulled into his friend’s house in Ferndale, he noticed that the truck’s hatch had popped open, and to his horror, his guitar, guitar case, and pedal board, along with other equipment, were missing. Some of the items Sullivan is looking for include:

  • A sunburst Epiphone Casino guitar
  • A bright orange pedal board with custom pedals and a tweed box
  • A rare Epiphone guitar in a black hard case
  • Rare harmonicas passed down from his grandfather

Kevin Sullivan is hoping that someone in the area may have picked up the equipment and put it away somewhere. However, he also suspects that someone could have taken the equipment out of the back of the SUV and left the hatch open while parked in the 100 block of Helene Avenue in Royal Oak. Sullivan has been searching for the lost gear on Facebook Marketplace and other online marketplace sites, but so far, none of the items have appeared for sale.

  • Local musicians in the metro Detroit area know Sullivan’s gear, especially since he is a local repair tech and builds custom pedals for many people.
  • Many of the items are rare, vintage, or custom-made, making them difficult to replace.

Sullivan expresses his disappointment and frustration at losing such a significant amount of his personal property. “My dad’s grandfather’s harmonica, and then a bunch of custom guitar pedals that I built after collecting rare parts for many years so I could start a company… it is a real bummer,” he said. Sullivan is reaching out to the community for help and is offering a contact number and email address for anyone who may have information about the lost gear.

Item Description Value
Sunburst Epiphone Casino guitar A rare guitar with a black hard case and gold Epiphone writing $1,500
Bright orange pedal board A custom pedal board with rare pedals $2,000
Tweed box A small box containing rare harmonicas $1,000

Sullivan is counting on the community’s help to recover his lost gear. If you have any information or have seen the items, please contact Kevin at 734-673-5846 or KevinDetroit81@gmail.com.
