Learning to play guitar is basically a matter of learning three simple things: how to hold the guitar, how to tune the guitar and how to strum the guitar. These are important skills you must learn if you want to progress at all as a guitarist. So let’s look at each one in more detail…

Learning to play the guitar can be very rewarding, but it’s also a lot of work.

It’s not like most other instruments where you can sit down and start playing one song within minutes (I’m looking at you piano…).

That’s why I wanted to share some of my best tips for learning how to play the guitar.

Whether you’re just starting out or have been learning for a while, there are always new things that you must learn in order to take your playing to the next level.

This is the first in a series of blog posts explaining what I believe are the 4 most important things you must know when starting to learn guitar. Each topic will be its own post!

For today, we’re going to look at what I believe are the most important thing you must know: The major chords.

The Major Chords

Guitarists use chords all of time, they’re essential when playing any song on the guitar. There are many types of chords which we’ll cover in more detail later, but there is one type that stands out above all else; The major chord.

The major chords consist of 3 notes stacked on top of each other named after their letter name e.g C, G and A

The guitar is one of the most popular instruments in the world and it’s not hard to see why. Even if you’ve never picked one up, you can probably name a few famous guitarists or songs that feature a guitar as the main instrument (Stairway to Heaven, Smoke on the Water, Brown Eyed Girl, etc..).

So you want to learn how to play your first song on the guitar? Well, you’re going to need to know a few things before starting. These four key aspects are going to help you sound like a pro in no time. Let’s take a look!

Chords

The foundation of learning any song on the guitar is knowing how to play chords. Chords are groups of notes played together at the same time. Most chords use 3-4 notes but there are a few exceptions like F major which only uses 2.

Chords allow you to form progressions and progressions allow you to play rhythm with your right hand while strumming chords with your left hand. Playing rhythm is what gives any song its groove so it’s very important!

However, it’s important to remember that learning an instrument isn’t easy, and it takes practice and diligence to get better. If you get frustrated while learning or practicing, it is important to remember that it will get easier with time. Try working on your songs for 15-30 minutes each day and see how far you can get in a week!

While there are many different types of guitars out there, you should try out as many as possible before buying your own. There are many online resources where you can find used or cheap guitars so don’t worry about spending too much money on your first guitar!

The choice to learn guitar can be both exciting and overwhelming. There are so many things to learn, and you’re eager to start playing your favorite songs.

It’s important to know what you need to focus on as a beginner guitarist. Even if you don’t have the ability to play a song right away, you want to set yourself up for success later on.

Pick the Right Guitar

The first thing you should do is choose which type of guitar you want to play. There are two main types: acoustic and electric. Electric guitars are generally easier to play (especially for beginners), but they require an amp and accessories, like cables, picks and a strap. Acoustic guitars are more portable, but it takes more time and effort to maintain one than an electric guitar.

Acoustic guitars are also available in nylon or steel string varieties, so your choice depends on what type of music you want to play.

If you don’t have experience with any instruments at all, then the best option is definitely an electric guitar. They’re easy to hold and play, and don’t take much time or money to set up (just plug them into an amp).

Learning to play guitar is an exciting skill that will impress those around you. If you have a passion for music and the acoustic guitar but don’t have a lot of time or the patience to learn how to play, you may want to do it quickly. Although mastering the guitar can take decades, there are techniques and methods that you can use to rapidly learn how to play the basics on acoustic guitar. By learning simple open chords, playing guitar tabs, and practicing regularly and correctly, you’ll be able to play the acoustic guitar in no time.

Let’s start with a proper warm-up. Getting your fingers moving, working out any stiffness and preparing your muscles is essential before getting into some serious playing. Start with three sets of 10 finger stretches on each hand and spend 2 minutes stretching out your wrist.
