If you’re reading this, you want to learn to play the guitar. You’re in the right place. I’ve built this site for beginners who want to learn how to play the guitar.

My motivation in making this site was to make a complete resource, with lessons, tips and tricks all in one place. My goal is to get you playing songs as soon as possible and have fun while learning.

There are literally thousands of guitar websites with lessons and they are all over the place. What makes my site different is that I have taken all of the information that is necessary for a beginner player to go from knowing nothing about the guitar, to being able to play songs confidently and well.

Learning to play the guitar is often done best through learning songs. Playing songs will help you with finger placement on the fret board, changing chords smoothly, and strumming patterns.

If you are starting off with the guitar, here are some easy songs to learn:

The first step in learning to play the guitar is learning how to tune it. If you have an electronic tuner that tells you when you have reached the right pitch for each string (this is recommended), then all you need to know is how to turn the tuning pegs on your guitar. Learn How To Tune A Guitar

If you do not have a tuner, then you must tune your guitar by ear. This is not as hard as it sounds and can actually be a fun way to get started with your guitar. Learn How To Tune A Guitar By Ear

Because learning to play a musical instrument should be fun and enjoyable, and because most people want to learn how they can play their favorite songs as soon as possible, we believe in teaching our students through song lessons.

A simple way of thinking about a chord progression is that it’s just like a story…

I love playing the guitar. I’m not formally trained, but I can play a few songs and make up some of my own. The first time I ever held a guitar was when I was 12 years old and it was one of those small sized guitars you’d see in Guitar Center. My friend’s dad gave me a free guitar lesson and ever since then, I’ve been hooked!

Learning To Play A Musical Instrument

I always wanted to learn how to play an instrument. And even though my mom insisted that I take piano lessons, I never did. Instead, I would sneak around my house and practice the piano without anyone knowing about it. This way, if I made a mistake or sounded bad, no one would notice!

Eventually, my mom caught on to what I was doing and decided to buy me a keyboard for Christmas. At first, I was really upset because she didn’t get me a real piano. But after using it for several years and learning how to play a few different songs on it, I realized that keyboards are just as good as pianos!

How To Learn The Guitar

The first thing you should do is find someone who already knows how to play the guitar and ask them if they can teach you how to play the guitar.

The guitar has always been an instrument that I wanted to learn, but I didn’t have the time or money to commit to lessons. But recently, after seeing a few friends pick up their guitars and start playing with ease, I decided it was time for me to learn. After a little research into the best ways to learn, I found a great collection of learning tools available online and wanted to share them here.

So how can you learn guitar online? There are tons of sites out there with great resources, but here are my favorites:

Yousician is a service that offers a ton of lessons on how to play all kinds of different instruments, including guitar. Once you sign up for an account and choose your level (beginner/intermediate/advanced), you’re able to pick from a number of different songs and practice them as much as you want. The service offers both text-based instructions as well as video tutorials (with tabs) so you can see exactly what needs to be played.

Looking for something more structured? JamPlay is a great site that offers structured courses on playing guitar. Lessons are categorized by different levels – beginner, intermediate and advanced – so no matter what your skill level is, there will be something for you here.
