Brian Moore is a guitar designer and builder who has been in the music industry for more than 30 years. His company, artist guitars, is known for creating innovative models and stunning finishes. Moore has worked with some of the leading names in music, including Stevie Ray Vaughan, Joe Perry of Aerosmith, Dweezil Zappa, and many others. In this interview he talks about the changing face of the music industry and how artists can use technology to take control of their careers.

Brian Moore is the owner and CEO of artist guitars a company based in Brooklyn, New York. He has been playing the guitar for over 30 years, and he recently started making unique custom guitars with his innovative design team.

Brian was born and raised in Southern California. His father, Bobby Moore, was known as “The King of Surf Rock” when he played the lead guitar for The Beach Boys. Brian fell in love with music at an early age and started playing the guitar when he was only 10 years old.

He began using his father’s old surf rock band instruments until he could afford to buy his own equipment. During college he majored in business and minored in music, and worked at a local music store where he met many people from all around the world who were interested in buying new instruments.

Brian eventually saved up enough money to open his first store in Brooklyn New York which became very popular among musicians looking for unique guitars with custom designs or modifications of existing models such as adding pickups on necks made out of wood instead of metal like Fender Stratocasters do not have any pickups but instead use single coils that are mounted directly onto the neck itself which makes them much lighter than traditional models.

Brian Moore is the President and CEO of artist guitars. He joined the company in 1991, after having graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from George Washington University. In the two decades since his joining, artist guitars has expanded its operations tenfold, opening several factories throughout the world and diversifying its product line to include all stringed instruments.

“I think it is our mission to provide a quality instrument to anyone who wants one,” Mr. Moore says. “Music is an important part of culture, and we want to make sure that everyone who has talent can follow their dream.”

When artist guitars started, the challenge was simple: to be different. In a market of countless copies and clones, one man decided to shake things up. Brian Moore, the founder of artist guitars, began his fledgling company in 1984 and has since released a steady stream of innovative guitars.

Brian was kind enough to give me an opportunity to ask him some questions about the company that bears his name.

Why did you start artist?

“I got into building guitars because I wanted to build better instruments than were available at the time.”

What are your earliest memories of getting into music?

“My first memories were listening to my father play guitar in jazz bands around New York City when I was growing up. I just loved everything about it.”

What’s your favorite thing about playing guitar?

“I love the whole thing – being able to write songs, play with other musicians, travel around and have fun…”

Brian Moore is a long-time player and manufacturer of custom electric guitars. I’ve been playing his incredible instruments for many years, and have always been amazed at their quality and tone. Brian has graciously agreed to an interview, and so here are a few questions we thought you might like to know about him.

Artist Guitars was founded by Brian Moore in New York City in 1979. They were originally known as Westbury Music Company, but later changed to Artist Guitars in 1986. Artist Guitars makes guitar models such as the i2000 and i2000N, along with many other models.

Brian Moore: My first love was the fifties rock’n roll music of Chuck Berry and Elvis Presley, then the British Invasion of The Beatles and Rolling Stones led me into playing guitar. I started playing when I was eight years old with my mother’s Gibson acoustic guitar that she bought in the 1930s.

Brian Moore Guitars is the brainchild of its namesake, Brian Moore. Born in London, England and raised in Toronto, Canada, he began his apprenticeship as a luthier in the late 70s before moving to New York City and quickly earning a reputation as one of the most sought-after guitar technicians in the world.

It was during this period that Brian was approached by several high-profile guitarists looking for a better instrument than what they were currently playing. In response, Brian developed several innovative designs that would not only address these needs, but also take advantage of the state-of-the-art electronics and computer design that had become available at the time.

In 1990, Brian founded his own company to produce and market these guitars. The company was called artist guitars to distinguish it from other guitar manufacturers who were simply producing copies of vintage instruments or making simple variations on existing models. Since then, artist has become known worldwide for its innovative designs and quality craftsmanship.
