A guitar can be divided into two main parts: the neck and the body. The part of the neck where you hold the guitar is called the fretboard. And this is where all the notes and chords are played. In most guitars, there are dots on the 3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th and 12th frets. There are also dots on the side of the neck to help you figure out which fret is which.

Some guitars have a double cutaway design, so that you can access all 22 frets easily. But there are also some models with only a single cutaway, so that you can only access up to around 15 frets or so. For beginners though, it’s best to stick with a basic model of guitar with a single cutaway design, just so that you can learn how to play without any issues.

Strings on an electric guitar are lighter than acoustic ones of course because they’re thinner. However, they can still be quite hard for beginners to press down on when starting out.
