The Guitars for Vets program is designed to help veterans struggling with PTSD, anxiety, and depression. It provides a structured approach to learning guitar, with a focus on building confidence and self-esteem. The program is offered in various locations across the United States, with a focus on veterans’ communities.

“I was deployed to Iraq and I was just trying to find something to do to take my mind off the stress of being in combat. I started playing guitar and it was a great way to de-stress and relax.”

Kinslow’s story is a testament to the power of music as a therapeutic tool, particularly for veterans struggling with PTSD and other mental health challenges. The Guitars for Vets program, founded in 2011, provides free guitar lessons to veterans and active-duty military personnel. It’s a non-profit organization that has helped thousands of veterans find solace and healing through music.

Army veteran, Johnathan “Jon” Miller, is the founder and president of Guitars for Vets. The program aims to provide veterans with a safe and supportive environment to learn and practice guitar. It also aims to help veterans cope with the challenges of transitioning back to civilian life. The program is structured around a series of weekly sessions, each lasting approximately 1.5 hours. These sessions are held at the American Legion Post 507 building in Newhall.
